Testology to Launch World’s First Games Testing Qualification
The global leader in QA introduces Test-thru-Ology, a dynamic learning academy that will see graduates gain the first accredited National Diploma in games testing.
The Test-thru-Ology academy will open its doors to students in late spring/early summer with the launch of a specialist QA course accredited by UK national awarding organisation, AIM Awards.
The six month full-time course will provide students with the strongest stepping stone into the games industry and create the next generation of fully-qualified games testers. Test-thru-Ology’s debut academy will be based in Hampshire, a unique interactive learning environment that will instil the vital skills needed to succeed in today’s highly competitive games testing industry.
The extensive course will incorporate more than 780 hours of learning and combines real-world expert training with a sophisticated online platform. The essential elements of games testing will form the core part of the diploma, with topics ranging from bugs and testing types, to tools, platforms and procedures.
Test-thru-ology will provide attendees with a bespoke educational experience. The diploma offers real ‘on the job’ training and will include inspirational talks from experts across the games industry. A key part of the course will focus on how students can get jobs once they are qualified, with training on CV writing, interview techniques and access to placements.
Andy Robson, owner, Testology says: “Test-thru-Ology is the world’s first physical QA academy. We have been running this course informally for years, however there is such an academic gap when it comes to games testing that we decided to work with AIM to formalise it into a recognised qualification.”
“Test-thru-Ology is about giving people an opportunity – it’s a different way of learning and will give students the perfect grounding for a career in the industry. The course is open to anyone who has a passion for games, whether they are school leavers, mid-life career changers or existing employees of games companies who need to deepen their knowledge. This will benefit the whole industry as businesses can upskill their trainees and will also have access to a network of fully-qualified graduates when they want to recruit new staff.”
Andy Robson has been hiring and training games testers from the ground up since 1994. Since the conception of Testology, he’s been giving opportunities to people from all walks of life and helping thousands of people to fulfil their dreams of working in the games industry.
Pete Molyneux, founder of Bullfrog Productions, Lionhead Studios and 22 cans says: “A QA academy is perfect for our industry, its much, much needed and it’s been a long time coming. The best way into the games industry is through QA as it gives people a great understanding of how games are put together. Having someone like Andy Robson behind this academy is essential, I can’t think of a better person.”
